Different from conventional RAID, FlexiRemap adopts a proprietary RAID algorithm to protect data in the array. It divides the SSD drives in a NeoSapphire unit into two groups: Group 0 and Group 1. Data is evenly distributed across SSDs of the two groups, with fault tolerance of single-drive failure.
If one SSD drive fails in SSD Group 1, for example, this group will then enter read-only mode to avoid further writes and decrease the chance of failure on the second drive in the same group. That is, FlexiRemap prevents data corruption by avoiding I/O writes to the group with the failed SSD.
